Reunion plans
Hey all …
Brad F. sent an e-mail today. Invitations are in the mail, he says. Well, mostly, that is.
He’s still looking for contact information on the following:
Caroline Brose
Jay Brucker
Kelly Boes
Lisa Dull
Pol Montescarlos
Steve Peer
Ron Shook
Scott Whitmer
Sonia Brickner
If you know their whereabouts, send an e-mail to him/me, and we’ll get word to them about the reunion. My e-mail address is jstacklin@centurytel.net or you can leave a comment here. Brad’s e-mail address is bradtfunk@comcast.net.
Also, Brad mentioned that he is asking for donations for a silent auction.
Money raised will go toward the next reunion … If you got any ideas, shoot him an e-mail. Meantime, he says he’ll send me a list of items when they become available. So check back here.
Remember, the reunion is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16, with a gathering Friday night at the Clover Club, golf scramble on Sat. morning, mass on Sunday and a gathering at Nick F.’s home on Sunday afternoon.
It sounds like it’s going to be a heck of good time. Hope everyone can make it. (If not, we’ll talk about you … then, afterward, I’ll blog about the gossip I hear. Just kiddin’) …

1986 Calvertana
The ‘rents came by this weekend and dropped off my copy of our 1986 yearbook.
Have have any of you opened it lately — it’s frightening. That Stacklin kid’s kind of dorky looking. There certainly are some silly pictures — and memories — in there.
I was looking at the faculty section, which I compared with the current faculty listing on the Calvert web site (http://www.calvert.tld.pvt.k12.oh.us/). Beyond principal Tony Mass, who then taught psychology, sociology, etc., and Sr. Maureen, all our teachers are gone.
(OK, I realize it’s 20 years later, but I guess I would have thought there’d be a few more teachers still there.)
Anyway … I’ll go out on a limb here: My two favorite teachers at good ol’ Calvert High were Mr. Diringer and Sr. Ricardo. In both cases, they expected nothing but our best — which, of course, at the time I hated. I know Mr. Diringer is at St. Francis these days. Anyone know what happened to Sr. Ricardo?
So, who were your favorite teachers from Calvert?

Reunion plans
Hi all …
I exchanged e-mails with Brad F. earlier this week. It sounds like the plans for the reunion weekend are coming together nicely.
He’s hoping to have final dinner plans wrapped up this week and invitations out this weekend. So far, the schedule looks something like this:
* Meet at Clover Club (ah, the Clover Club, I haven’t been there in a few years) Friday night and wish Dave Kennedy well prior to his departure to Iraq.
* A golf scramble, coordinated by Aaron Smith, Saturday morning.
* Cocktails and dinner at the Hampton Inn on Saturday night.
* An after-Reunion Party at Deanna Reedy’s house on Tecumseh Drive (across from Hampton Inn.
* 9:30 a.m. Mass Sunday at St Joe’s for Jackie Wagner and other class relatives
* A family get together/swim party at Nick’s house mid-day on Sunday.
Sounds great, Brad. Event-planning is difficult. You deserve a pat on the back (or a beer at the Clover Club) for your work.

Consolidation and Calvert High
Amy Clouse introduced a topic that might merit some discussion, as we ponder our time at Calvert High back in the 1980s.
I’ll be honest: I don’t know much about the planned consolidation of the Catholic schools in Tiffin beyond what Amy and Jane talked about in their posts.
That said, from a business perspective, it certainly seems to make sense. You don’t need an MBA to see the rationale in eliminating administrative costs and all of the duplication that occurs from school to school. (Frankly, the bit of business acumen I acquired from Zip Zoeller’s General Business class is enough to provide clarity.)
Still, there’s another issue at stake: nostalgia. I’m sure we all remember our days at St. Joe’s and St. Mary’s elementary schools, and there’s some part of us that feels those schools should remain as they were when we attended them.
Then again, they were pretty beaten up when we were there and, unless things have changed since we were there, I’m guessing there’s not a lot of money to fix ‘em up.
Anyway … What do you all think?

Now that we know where Pablo is …
Maybe it’s time to figure out what happened to the two brainiacs of 1986 — Matt Ball and Jeff Taylor. Anybody got any ideas where they’re at?
I kind of picture these guys as longtime rivals Bill Gates (Matt) and Steve Jobs (Jeff) trying to one-up each other at every step of life. If I could get someone to run an FBI/Secret Service search, it would certainly help.
Meantime, I’m left to my imagination and Googling. I just typed Jeff’s name into Google. It spit out 36.4 million results. For Matt, 25.1 million. That’s too many, and the one’s on top don’t seem to fit.
So much for unique names in the Google universe.
Anyway … If anyone has clues to the whereabouts of these two gents, let me know.
Jeff
Stay tuned: Next week’s most wanted: Geetha and Pol, where are you?

A little golf, maybe?
Hey everyone …
Aaron — the man of great ideas that he is, suggested that we convene a golf tournament on Saturday, Sept.16 …
I’m all fore it!!!
I know … bad pun …
Regardless, I’m a terrible golfer … the kind that only golfs with a bag of garage sale clubs and several beers hidden in the cart. (Mrs. Marfarland-Dayton probably would send me to detention if she heard that.)
Anyway … What do y’all think? Golf, anyone?

Blogging by Jeff
It was brought to my attention that some folks may not want to add comments or not know how to blog … It’s actually kind of simple.
There’s two ways: Either click on the category header (I.e. “Reunion music” or “Where are they now”) or the “Comment” button below each post. A new window will open for your name, e-mail address and comment …
Because this is a free blog software, it requires you give your name and an e-mail address. If that’s a problem for anyone, and you’d still like to add a comment, just without a name/e-mail, you can e-mail me the comment, and I’ll post it under my name and e-mail, though I want to put your name with the post.
Questions, e-mail me at jstacklin@centurytel.net.
Blog on!!!
Cheesy music
Aaron wants a band/DJ … maybe a good idea. But, whichever it is, they have to play cheesy ’80s music. Without a doubt, we must play, “Street of Dreams” by Rainbow. (Oh god, now I’m going to be singing that song the rest of the day.)

The reunion
Don’t know much at this point …Brad F. says it’s on Sept. 16 … a whole weekend of activities possibly … Beers on Friday, Mass and reunion on Saturday … and a picnic of some sort on Sunday.
