Sad news
I just received some bad news, and thought I should share it with you all.
Dan Stimmel’s wife, Lisa, who had been battling cancer for several years, passed away yesterday. They have two boys, Austin and Aaron.
Dan, I’m so sorry … You’ll be in my prayers.

Catching up with folks
Hi all …
I exchanged e-mails with Doug Kummer. (Well, actually, his wife, Chris.
They are planning to attend the reunion.)
Meantime, though, some of you may know this. Doug’s little girl, Colleen, (I think she’s 12-13 years old and certainly a cute kid) last spring was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor.
She’s been through 30 treatments of radiation and a round of chemo and has about a year left of those treatments. She will be at risk for other cancers throughout life with the current diagnosis.
You can read about Colleen at www.caringbridge.org/visit/the_bean
Chris keeps the blog updated almost daily. (I make my living these days writing, but that’s some truly passionate writing.) The entry for Aug. 5 is particularly heady. If you’ve got kids, I suggest you read it. I about cried, and then went gave each of my daughters a kiss and hug.
Friends and family have been supportive, but I think they need more; if nothing else, a prayer and your thoughts. If you want to do more, there are benefit funds set up at KeyBank and FirstMerit.
If you’d like to reach Doug directly, his e-mail is dccb@bex.net.
Anyway, go kiss and hug your kids. That’s what I’m going to do.

Catching up with folks
I got an e-mail from Lesa (Riser) Pellittieri.
Sounds like she’s doing well these days. She’s an accountant in the Cleveland area. Married, no children, “just dogs,” and lives in Amherst — a long Par 5 from my home in Vermilion.
Lesa … hope you can make it to the reunion.

Now that we know where Pablo is …
Maybe it’s time to figure out what happened to the two brainiacs of 1986 — Matt Ball and Jeff Taylor. Anybody got any ideas where they’re at?
I kind of picture these guys as longtime rivals Bill Gates (Matt) and Steve Jobs (Jeff) trying to one-up each other at every step of life. If I could get someone to run an FBI/Secret Service search, it would certainly help.
Meantime, I’m left to my imagination and Googling. I just typed Jeff’s name into Google. It spit out 36.4 million results. For Matt, 25.1 million. That’s too many, and the one’s on top don’t seem to fit.
So much for unique names in the Google universe.
Anyway … If anyone has clues to the whereabouts of these two gents, let me know.
Jeff
Stay tuned: Next week’s most wanted: Geetha and Pol, where are you?

Did Matt Ball become a …
… rocket scientist?
How about Jeff Taylor? A Republican?
What about Scott Whitmer … Did he get hired to manage Van Halen?
I want to know what happened to you, the Calvert Class of ‘86. Add a comment or post. Have you heard from anyone else. Tell me what they’re up to …if they don’t respond, we’ll simply gossip about ‘em.
I hear Julie Wagner’s a designer in New York… Deanna Kin, a real estate agent … and Brad Funkhouser is in marketing.
What about you???
hey, class of 1986 …
I set up this blog as a way to find out what everybody is up to and catch up before we meet for the reunion in September. Feel free to comment or post an entry. Or, shoot me an e-mail and I’ll post something for you.
Tell me/us what you’re up to these days. Are you married? Kids? Working?
I have a limited number of e-mail addresses for the class of ‘86. If you know someone, forward a link to ‘em.
Also, I told Brad Funkhouser I’d use the blog as a means to communicate reunion plans. So, check back. ….
Later,
Jeff
